- A healthy gut means a healthy immune system. Don’t use stress as an excuse to eat junk or processed foods! Nourish your body with fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables- raw or cooked depending on your dosha to increase zinc and vitamin C. Add rice, beans and healthy grains.
- Take a good probiotic to help with digestion.
- Drink warm or hot liquids throughout the day to fight viruses. Never drink cold or iced drinks, especially with meals as this hampers digestion.
- If you have a sore throat, gargle with 1-2 drops of Tea Tree essential oil per 8 ounces of warm to hot water. Other good gargle ingredients are salt, lemon juice, turmeric or apple cider vinegar.
- Wash hands often for twenty seconds- and especially after bringing in anything in from outside your home.
- Viruses can remain on metallic surfaces for nine days. When outdoors, bring a Lysol wipe and use that to touch handrails or door handles. Clean these and other surfaces after others have left your home.
- Great anti-viral products to have on hand are Avana, Tea Tree oil and Immuni-Tea from Yoga Flow, as well as Emergen-C and Banyan Botanical’s new Immune Health NOW herbal respiratory system support.
- PLEASE stay home if you can! If you can’t and were around people, know that the virus attaches to hair and clothing. Remove and wash your clothes and shower immediately after arriving back home. Leave shoes by the door,
- Avoid constantly watching the news and make time for self-care. Yoga, meditation, swimming and walking in nature (avoiding others of course). Spending at least 20 minutes in the sun causes your body to release antimicrobials that fight parasites, fungi and viruses. This is a great time for spiritual reading, writing or journaling.
- Self-massaging each morning after your bath or shower with a good essential oil massage blend adds a protective anti-viral layer around your body.
- I read this online recently- author unknown:
“What if the universe is trying to get us to slow down? To stop producing. To stay home and let the world breathe a little without the extra pollution we cause daily. To take a step back and realize how we really impact earth and one another. That we aren’t as significant or in control as we think we are. A virus can come through and wipe us all out but earth will still be here. We are all connected. Just like we can spread a disease, we can also spread love, kindness and positivity. Use this time for reflection of your contribution and the life you’re living. Slow down and finally hear yourself again. The universe is always speaking to us if we are willing to listen.”
